Visit 9A Kitchen & Lounge and you’ll experience “great food, great drinks, and great people.” This versatile space has something for everyone, including a restaurant, sports bar, lounge, stage, sushi bar, DJ booth and private event space that can fit up to 150 people. Located at the western edge of Harlem under the 9A West Side Highway (at 133rd Street), the heart of 9A Kitchen & Lounge is its great eats, featuring a main menu, brunch menu and late-night menu. Besides the comfort-food favorites of ribs, burgers and mac ‘n cheese, there’s also the southern dishes such as collard greens and sweet potato fries, as well as an extensive selection of sushi, one of the best in Harlem run by Head Sushi Chef Chan Liang.
Another big draw to 9A Kitchen & Lounge is the great drinks with a large selection of cocktails and self-service beer taps. The space also can be split into two “zones,” allowing private events to be sectioned, each with a separate entrance and coat check. You can enjoy intimate lounge seating, restaurant seating and two bars with 32 flat screen TVs throughout the entire space. They offer DJ booths with new state-of-the-art sound system and mood lighting depending on the desired effect. There is parking nearby or valet parking, if needed.
The restaurant, featuring Executive Chef Courtney Harris, also has wonderful dessert options, including fried Oreos, Warm Southern Croissant Bread Pudding made with Captain Morgan spiced rum and a dish called “Brown Sugar,” which is a warm walnut brownie with bananas Foster and dulce.
Owners Julie Grunberger and Rigo Herasme, launched their new venture this summer for the vibrant West Harlem and Morningside Heights community. As friends and partners for over 25 years, they sought the right time and opportunity to incorporate their years of experience in the hospitality, entertainment, and food services business to create their vision of the sports bar and restaurant.
